I finally, finally watched Heroes and Rome, and all I can say is wheeeeeeeeeeee!

Oh, wait. :D

Warning: spoilers and images behind the cut.

Heroes 1x12, alternatively titled "The one where Nathan and Hiro were awesome. And Peter was there too."

Becauce that is exactly what happened.

  • Nathan and Hiro: The scene between these two was perfect; I don't think I've ever laughed so hard while watching this show. "Veeeeeelaan?" Masi and Adrian should have a scene together every week. No mere words can demonstrate why, so here, have some pictures instead:

    "Flying man!"

"Hello, man whom I met only once, yet managed to make me laugh and totally got me even though we could barely communicate with one another!"

It's so clear that Nathan and Hiro are going to be future BFFs; Nathan clearly wants Hiro to persuade him he's on the side of angels.

    "You flying man! *WHOOOOOOSH*"

    "Would you keep it down?"
    "*whoooosh*"
    (BFFs, yis.)

  • Nathan and Peter: So Nathan finally believes Peter; he knows it's all connected. Is it just me, or did Nathan's "Let me help you" in Peter's dream seem vaguely ominous?

On the shallow front: OMGSOMUCHGAY. They've got like two minutes together in this episode, and yet.

So, Nathan kissed Peter. People, I do not make this stuff up:

...and in the dream, he's the only one who stays and offers to help:

  • Claire: Aww, she's trying to reconnect with Zach! Her desperate attempts to make him remember were heartbreaking 'cause he really doesn't believe her. Love the recurrence of the jump off the bridge, and how she knew which jokes he'd crack. They're too cute for words:

  • Other characters: The Haitian is fucking cool. I vote for more scenes for him in the future.

Simone cracked me up: "Okay. Yeah. The world is insane; I'm not going to keep fighting it." *heeeee*

Matt and his wife are cute. I'm hoping she takes the news well.

    CHRISTOPHER ECCLESTON YAY!

  • Is it Monday yet?

Rome 2x02
  • Vorenus and Pullo: SHAVING YAY! That is all.

  • Vorenus: I'm not sure I buy this profane Vorenus. For one thing, he refers to Dis when Antony was shaming him about his behaviour; for another, he calls himself a son of Hades: why invoke the gods if he doesn't believe in their power anymore? Speaking of Antony...

    "I am your master."
(...and a thousand D/s fics are born.)

    Putting the 'sub' in subtext:

  • Julii Cooper: Atia gets better and better as a character. The little hiss in Cleopatra's ear? Priceless.

    And, to continue a theme:
"Let me kiss you to establish that I own your life, dear Servilia..."

  • Antony and Octavian: The fight between them was utterly brutal. Octavian finally showed some emotion; it was noticeable that his insult to Antony was purely political: "You're not fit to lead Rome", as opposed to his very personal insult to his mother. Atia won me over in this scene: she is protective, in her own way; she was terrified for Octavian, and her pleading for him just broke me.

  • Cleopatra: She's become much more diplomatic about her relations with Romans. And she gave as good as she got with Antony, which automatically make me love her all the more. Also? "I never touched That Woman!" *heee*

On a completely shallow note, the actress playing her is gorgeous. I think last season the producers were consciously trying to play down Cleopatra as the epitome of beauty, but this season she looks fanstastic:

  • Miscellaneous: One of the things the writers are doing really well on this season is dropping subtle hints about the socio-economic state of Rome at this time. The "Fucking foreigners" line in the truce meeting had a point, as did "I'll suck your cock!": increasing reliance on slave labour contributed to high unemployment in Rome, and the show's doing well building up to it.

I love my ancient violent soap opera so very much. ♥
