Kings 1x01: Goliath

  • DAVID! He really is like a cocker spaniel at first. I liked that, unlike Jack (more on him later), he owns up to his weaknesses, learns from them and tries to do better. Mostly I just want to pet him. A lot.

ETA: And the food! He sent the guards the banquet food! Aww.

  • REVEREND SAMUELS!
    "You are very polite, David."
"It's just the way I was raised."
"Well, do something about that before you grow up."
    Hee hee heeeeeeeee! And then:
"I bring a message. Since you have cast aside the word of the Lord, he has cast you aside as king. He grants you no more favours, he protects what you love no longer. God wishes a man after his own heart; you have none. He will find another."
OUTSTANDING. Do not mess with the Reverend.

  • Jack... not so much. To have him acknowledged to be gay at the outset is an interesting and potentially brilliant choice, though at the moment I find him uncompelling in the extreme - he's too petty and petulant. If they're going to stay true to the the Biblical story, he's going to have to shape up pretty damn sharpish, otherwise how is the epic friendship with David going to emerge?

  • But back to things that are fantastic! The machiavellian Queen, scheming to take over the world! save her son's reputation, manipulate the press, and get rid of her incompetent secretary all in one fell swoop. It's the efficiency that wins my heart. "Just because he's dead doesn't mean he can't be helpful." (I think Queen Rose would like Mathis.)

  • Also, hi Council President Nerese Campbell from The Wire, hi! ♥ x a million; she needs to have more screentime, stat!
